10 Questions With Beauty Spectrum
I’ve got quite a busy few weeks coming up so I’m super excited to vlog everything, probably my most exciting time on my channel will be my trip to New York. I’m going in a couple of weeks with my friends which ties in with my 18th birthday celebrations, so those videos are definitely going to be some of my favourite to watch back! And then of course, vlogmas!!
2.What is the first thing you consider when working with a brand?
The quality of their email is such a deal breaker, if brands have taken the time to actually email me using my name instead of ‘Beauty Spectrum’ usually that’s an indicator to me straight away that they’ve put effort in already. I’ve been pretty lucky in the sense that everyone I’ve worked with previously have always been really nice!
3. Who or what would be your dream brand to work with?
That is SUCH a difficult question, I’d LOVE to work with Starbucks, because I feel like that would be the most authentic brand/influencer collaboration to ever happen given that I spend half of my life in there! Either them or Urban Decay, because they’re such a lovely brand and probably my favourite makeup brand!
4. With such an amazing channel and blog, do you ever feel the pressure of juggling the two?
Thank you haha! Not really, I tend to put most of my focus on YouTube all the time and then just blog if I have something specific I want to write, rather than trying to stick to a schedule!
5. Who are your three current fave Youtubers?
Probably Zoella, Shane Dawson and Sophdoesnails, which I feel are three very very different YouTubers, so that’s covering a really wide range of content. Zoe’s vlogs will always be my favourite, there’s something so cosy about watching them. Shane is my go-to for creepy conspiracy theory videos, and Sophie is one of my go-to makeup channels, she’s such a lovely person and she’s come so far this year I can’t help but be drawn back to her channel!
6.Are there any Youtubers you would love to collaborate with?
I recently collaborated with Sophie Foster and she’s always been somebody I’d wanted to film with, but living so far away from most other people, it makes any kind of collab fairly difficult. I’d love to collab with Sophdoesnails, or maybe Hannah Renee!
7. Your channel has such a fab variety of videos, do you have a particular fave to film?
Probably my vlogs when I’m doing something particularly special because I love knowing that I’ll be able to watch them back one day when I’m older. I started out filming them just for myself as I love the idea of it being an ‘online diary’, so vlogging is probably my favourite!
8. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Ooooh, that’s difficult because I’d LOVE to have a conversation with younger Molly. I’d probably tell her not to worry about trying to fit with a specific type of people or stress about the little things and just enjoy everything a bit more (easier said than done though) because everything’s turned out alright so far.
9. How do you feel about the way in which Youtubers and Vloggers are portrayed by the media?
Interestingly this is actually something I’m studying at college at the moment, and the general argument I put forward is that I don’t like it. It’s so easy for mainstream media to criticise YouTubers and Vloggers, mainly because they don’t really understand, but also because as Social Media increases it’s reach, mainstream media is taking a bit of a backseat, but I don’t think that gives them the right to write nasty articles about people that have been successful in this industry.
10. Current fave CL products?
I’m currently LOVING the new laptop cases, I have a holographic one that gets compliments every time I bring it to school with me! The phone cases will always remain a firm favourite as well though!
