WAYS TO BE KIND TO YOUR MIND

It’s World Mental Health Day today and in light of this important day we asked the team at Coconut Lane to give you 5 simple ways to be kind to your mind. We’re all about self-love, self-care and self-compassion here at Coconut Lane and would love for all of our Coconut Babes to practice the same too.

1. Give yourself a break

"We’re all running at a hundred miles an hour from work to social events and if the pandemic taught us one thing it's the importance of slowing down. It's okay to say no to things and to set your own boundaries. Make sure you take some time out each day to do something for yourself and to give your mind a rest." - Phoebe, Coconut Lane Marketing Manager

We suggest taking a relaxing bubble bath or lighting a candle to give yourself some much needed TLC!

2.
Get outside in nature

"Don’t underestimate the power of a daily walk and bit of exercise! Taking the time to get some fresh air can do wonders for mind and exercise releases endorphins that make you feel better, help you to concentrate and feel mentally sharp for tasks at hand. Appreciate the beauty of the outside world whilst you’re at it!" - Charlotte, Coconut Lane Wholesale Manager

3. Use social media in a positive way

“Social media can be great but if you use it in the wrong way or follow the wrong accounts then it can become a negative place. Realistically we’re not all going to stop using Instagram so I’d suggest to have a follow spree of accounts that make you feel good and spread positivity.” - Charlie, Coconut Lane Owner

Some of our faves at the moment include @iuliastration, @selfcarexpress and @femaleinspiring. While you’re at it have a cull of those accounts which impact you in a negative way. Don’t forget to take regular breaks from scrolling too!

4.
Set self-care goals

"Take a few minutes at the start of each day to organise your thoughts and set some goals. Not only will this give you structure and something to work towards, it will also allow you to think about how you can prioritise time to take care of yourself. Why not also add in a number of new activities to try too!" - Molly, Coconut Lane Social Executive

5. Reframe negative thoughts

"Focusing on positive thoughts and reframing any negative ones is so important. Work towards shifting to a more positive mindset by being kind and compassionate to yourself, recognising your achievements and learning to love yourself." - Jess, Coconut Lane Owner

To help you get started, why not try out gratitude journalling. Write down 5 things you are grateful for at the start of every day to help you reframe from negative thoughts and instead focus on the positive
