Hosting the perfect Girls Night In

So, it’s that time of year again. We’ve waved a reluctant farewell to our pay cheques, after summer adventures and festival season, and it’s fair to say our bank accounts are feeling a little worse for wear. But the fun doesn’t have to stop there. 

Here at Coconut Lane HQ, we’ve been pretty obsessed with the idea of a super-cute girl’s night in, filled with cocktail making, pizza, Instagram stalking and Ryan Gosling – Oh hey girl. Let’s call it the new and improved slumber party (complete with nostalgic 90s films and that all-important face mask) but of course, way cooler. And totally Insta-grammable. So, without further ado, here are our 6 must-haves for an uber-cute girl’s night in, that T- Swift would totes be proud of - #SquadGoals.

1. The Ultimate Throwback Playlist.

Every girl’s night in needs an ‘on fleek’ musical narrative to compliment those super sassy antics. And of course, no playlist is complete without a cheeky little throwback. Search for the best throwback playlists of the 90s and noughties on Spotify, and get your groove on. Here’s a few of our trusty favourites…

2. A pretty bad-ass movie line up

Because you can’t have throwback tunes without those girly films you grew up with. Have a full on quote-off – you know, handing out the popcorn like 'four for you glen coco… you go glen coco.’ Or, go all out and get the squad to come dressed as their ‘spirit animals’ - ours would be Cher, of course.

3. The sassiest snacks in town.

We’re not gonna lie, the food is obvs the best part, right? Set up a cute little table full of pretty delish dishes of pizza (of course), crisps, crudités and dips. Or why not stick with the throwback theme – we’re talking smiley faces, curly fries, party rings and cheese strings. Count us in.

4. Cocktails baby

Because no girl’s night in is complete without some pretty chic cocktails. Why not try these simple, yet delish rose-scented strawberry cocktails?

All you’ll need is…

  • 100g strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp rosewater
  • chilled bottle of champagne or prosecco

Then… simply blitz the strawberries with the sugar and rosewater in a blender to form a purée. Add a spoon or two to each glass and top up with your choice of bubbly, and voilà!
